Today (Friday) as I am writing this, one of my best friends, let’s call her Abby (well because that is her name) is opening her own storefront. She is ridiculously talented and has been dreaming about this longer than I have known her and tonight the doors will open! I’m so excited for her and during these last few weeks I’ve been very invested!

Let me tell you a little bit about Abby. Abby is an artist and can paint things I only wish I could, she could probably paint flowers blindfolded, that’s how good she is. We met when my family started attending First Capital Christian Church. When we were first introduced, I knew she looked familiar so we tried to figure out where we knew each other from. Then it hit us. Abby was best friends with my cousin. I had never met her in person but I knew her from stories and pictures, but our friendship didn’t start there. It wasn’t till over a year later that we realized how much we had in common. I started working at the church in the youth department and shared an office with her. We went on a staff retreat that winter and we stayed up one night till 3 am just talking about anything and everything. That is where our bond was formed and has grown every day since. I am so blessed to have her in my life. I’ve always wanted that best friend (besides my husband) that you can share anything with and someone who is there for you at a drop of a hat. Well, it took me 30 years, but I finally found my person! She has inspired me so much and dared me to dream BIG!

At the start of this post, I mentioned her shop opening. I don’t want to just fly right past that statement because it wasn’t easy. I think she could write a novel about all the stories and setbacks that she has gone through to open this storefront. I’m sure at times those roadblocks were very discouraging, but she continued taking steps forward. I think that’s the key. Do you have something that is a BIG dream in your life? Are there roadblocks in your way? Here is your sign to take the next step, whatever it may be. Believe in yourself and be determined. Just like my friend. Don’t give up!

Remember when I said she inspired me? That is because my husband and I decided to dream BIG and we will soon be starting a side T-shirt business. We are in the process of saving up our money to buy the equipment we need to get started! But we are taking that leap of faith and DARING TO DREAM!
