First of all, let’s set the record straight. I do not like to read. I don’t find joy in grabbing a good book and sitting by the ocean or by a fire to read. I would rather watch a movie inspired by the book. My oldest daughter must have received all my reading genes because you can’t get her to stop reading. So you might be thinking why start a book club??? Well….. That’s a great question.  My daughter has inspired me to read more and by reading I mean listening to audiobooks. I don’t know about you but I don’t have a lot of extra time to sit down and read and even if I did have the time I get distracted really easily. When I listen to audiobooks I can be doing work around the house and fully grasp all the author is talking about. This is because I am a visual learner and when I listen to the author speak I can imagine the scenario being described. I get more out of a book this way. So I say all this to say I have been trying to listen to more books. As I was going through a great book called Present Over Perfect (which I have mentioned before) I got the idea of starting a book club. I wanted to see what other women thought about this book. I put the idea out there on a TIKTOK video and received a great response in return. We start discussing the book today and I can’t wait to get to know these women more!

I was blown away with how many women wanted to join in with me, someone who has never ran a book club before, in fact, I’ve never even been a part of one. This reminds me that sometimes God will use you in places you never thought you would be. If you would have asked me 3 years ago what I would be doing in 2020, leading a book club would not have crossed my mind. Honestly, I think that would have been the furthest thing from what I would have said. Also just to mention I wouldn’t have mentioned being a writer and this blog or being in a digital ministry at our church either. 3 years ago I was a stay at home mom, we had just moved to a new church earlier that year and my little family was in a rough place because my husband had just lost his job. (Read more about that experience in my past blog post “Pink Slip”) I could have never placed myself in the reality I’m in right now. Partly because I would have never dreamed this big. I can say without a doubt that my God is a BIG God and He has better plans for me than I could ever imagine. As long and I let Him take the lead in my life.

So here I am letting Him take the lead and stepping out in faith starting this book club. I hope and pray that this will be a refreshing place for the women who join and for myself as well. I’m especially excited to see how the conversation starts today!

If you are a female who is reading this blog thinking, “I would like to join this book club group, but I’m not on TIKTOK…” I have a special treat for you! Here is our private group link to join. https://www.facebook.com/groups/momsoftiktokbookclub You don’t have to be on TIKTOK that’s just where it started and you don’t have to be a mom. This group is for any women who would like to share in this journey together. I can’t wait to see what friendships form out of this group.

I pray that this blog today was an encouragement to you and can help in your daily life. Always know I am available to pray with you or just be someone to talk to when life gets hard. E-mail me at megan@churchanywhere.us if you need prayer!
